Easter traditions in England and Germany are yet another area of cultural differences. While we decorate branches and bushes with eggs that have been dyed or painted in some way, there does not seem to be any of the sort over here. Dyeing of eggs, an essential part of the German Easter tradition, is equally unheard of so that it is nigh on impossible to buy appropriate egg dyes. Because Easter without coloured eggs is simply not an option, alternative means were explored. The food colourings that I found in the baking section of the supermarket were not perfect for the job, but at least they have given the eggs a slight hue of blue, green and red. Willem dozed off fairly quickly and was not very impressed this time round.
