Zähne, Planschen und Erkältungskrankheiten — Teething, Bathtime and Ongoing Colds

Planscher vom Dienst — Bathtime fun

Herbstlaub auf Mohrrübe — A fallen leaf on a tuft of ginger hair

Willem has been teething for what seems like months. At last, the first few teeth have come through. He has already discovered the joys of gnawing on numerous things - not all of them edible. The downside is that the poor little tyke is sometimes rather crabby, especially in the evenings.

Good thing then, that he seems to forget his pain when we stick him in the bath. While the prospect of having a bath would have been his personal nightmare only two months ago, he is now sitting down in the tub with an expression of absolute glee on his face. He then proceeds to splash about madly, managing to get us soaked. Unfortunately, it is very hard to suppress the laughter, which only acts as further encouragement.

Thea has been plagued by a severe-cold-turned-into-pleurisy for more than a fortnight now. The kitchen table looks like a pharmacy counter, but these beastly bugs seem unusually pertinacious. We are hoping for speedy improvement. Don't be surprised if you hear (even) less from her than usual - she is asleep most of the day...

Autumn is round the corner. On our quest for the Sunday paper this morning, an autumn leaf fell on Willem's head causing some bewilderment. (O.k., the photo is ever so slightly staged. But it did really look like this...honest...)

Hope to post more soon.
Take care!

  1. Get better, Thea!
(Is Willem getting the benefit of all these drugs, too?)
And thanks for asking- our two rascals are just that, keeping us alternately shouting and laughing, and on our toes.
BTW, can I still reach you at your work email?

  2. Willem is no longer a breastfed baby, so when he's drowsy it's because he's been having a ball with all his nursery pals - and not because of the painkillers... Shame, really - might help his teething pain...
