Vier mal werden wir noch wach — 4 days to Christmas

Der Winter hat auf der Insel Einzug gehalten, und die Heizung muss Überstunden machen, draussen liegt Schnee, und im ganzen Land wird über kaum etwas anderes so viel geredet, wie über die Probleme, die der Schnee mit sich bringt.

Nur noch wenige Tage bis Heiligabend. Wir beginnen unser Häuschen aufzuräumen, damit es Weihnachten gemütlich wird. Es ist schade, dass wir nicht in Bremen bei Familie und Freunden sein können. Eine Reise nach Deutschland wäre zwar schön, aber auch anstrengend, und wir freuen uns darauf, einfach ein paar Tage zur Ruhe zu kommen nach dem monatelangen krank sein. Dies ist unser erstes Weihnachtsfest mit Willem, und es wird ganz spannend sein, da der kleine Kerl inzwischen auf allen Vieren durch die Gegend wuselt und sich überall hochzieht, um all die spannenden Dinge zu erforschen, die Mama und Papa im Haus herumliegen haben. Offensichtlich gibt es noch einiges in seiner Reichweite, was noch gesichert werden muss. Hoffentlich wird er nicht versuchen, sich am Weihnachtsbaum, den wir noch besorgen müssen, hochzuziehen.



Winter has arrived in England and the central heating boiler has to work overtime. There is a dusting of snow and while most of the country is excited, everyone also seems anxious about getting out and about due to the problems the snow causes.

Just a few days now until Christmas Eve, we are seriously starting to get the house in good shape, after all we would like it to be comfy and cosy over the Christmas days. It is a pity that we cannot be with family and friends in Germany, but travelling would have been tiring and stressful, and being drained by months of ongoing illnesses, we are simply looking forward to having a quiet and - hopefully - relaxing time. This will be our first Christmas with Willem. It is getting quite lively with him now, as he is able to crawl on all fours and can get from one end of the room to the other (ok, they are small, but he is really starting to get the hang of this...) and loves to explore all the interesting things that mum and dad have got in the house. Needless to say we have some childproofing work to do. We just hope that he won't pull himself up on the Christmas tree that has yet to be organised.
