Hidcote Himmel — Fab day out

Wir hatten heute viel Spass. Wir haben den ganzen Nachmittag in Hidcote Manor Gardens verbracht und sind durch den Garten gerannt (hauptsächlich Willem), haben Fussball gespielt, Mittag gegessen, noch mehr Fussball gespielt (es gibt dort eine tolle grosse Wiese für sowas), haben Lämmer, die Berkshire Schweine Pop und Frank (Willem durfte füttern), Kaulquappen, einen Frosch und zwei Molche gesehen. Willem hat zum Abschluss noch ein Stück Kuchen gehabt, im Parkplatz Automarken geraten und ist dann völlig erschöpft auf dem Heimweg im Auto eingeschlafen.

We had a great day out today. We went to Hidcote Manor Gardens and spent the whole afternoon running through the gardens, well Willem ran rings around us. We also played football, had lunch, played more football (there is a big lawned area for that sort of fun), saw loads of lambs, a couple of Berkshire pigs (Pop and Frank), tadpoles, a frog and a couple of newts. Willem finished it off with a piece of cake, car make quiz in the car park, before falling asleep in the car on the way home.

Woolly!

Neuer fahrbarer Untersatz — New Wheelz

Tadaaaa! Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren, wir präsentiereeeeeeeen — unser neues Auto!! Willem hatte es im Geiste schon gekauft, bevor Hendrik und ich uns wirklich entschieden hatten. Er ist sofort reingeklettert und im Innenraum rumgehüpft. Einen Namen hat er ihm auch schon verpasst: "Scoop", wie der Bagger bei "Bob the Builder". Na ja, es geht ähnlich viel rein. Jetzt müssen wir nur noch Ferien mit dem Auto planen ;-) In der Zwischenzeit, falls uns mittelgrosse Kohorten besuchen kommen wollen: kein Problem, denn wir haben ja sieben Sitze :-)

Tadaaaa! Ladies and Gentlemen, wie give you - our new set of wheels!! Willem had already bought it in his mind before Hendrik and I had even made up our minds. He was inside in a flash and was skipping through the interior. He also dreamed up a name for it: "Scoop" as in "Bob the Builder's" digger. Well, I guess the capacity is comparable. Now all we need to do is plan a family holiday with the car ;-) In the meantime, in case medium sized cohorts want to come and visit: no problem at all, 'cause we've now got seven seats :-)

Zuwachs — Expanding

Tja, das ist nun also das erste Foto von Ottilie :-) Sie (oder er, natürlich. Der Ultraschall war leider nicht in Farbe, wir konnten also nicht erkennen, ob es sich um die hellblaue oder rosafarbene Variante handelt) ist schon 8 cm gross, kann mit den Händen winken, mit den Füssen strampeln und generell ganz schön rumhüpfen). Wir freuen uns riesig­­­­ — ­­ auch wenn der Familienzuwachs natürlich unsere endlich etwas normalisierte Welt wieder ordentlich durcheinander bringen wird...


Well, here it finally is, the first photograph of Ottilie :-) She (or he, obviously. The scan unfortunately wasn't in colour, so we couldn't make out whether it is the pink or blue variety) is already 8 cm long, can wave her arms and kick her feet and is generally busy doing little jigs. We can't wait to meet her (or him) even though we've got to prepare for our finally slightly more normal lives being once again turned upside down...

Schwimmen — Big Boy Goes Swimming

Seit Mücki 3 Jahre geworden ist, fragt er regelmässig, ob er jetzt gross ist. Im Kindergarten darf er jetzt mit den Grossen zum Schwimmunterricht gehen, was er diese Woche zum ersten Mal gemacht hat. Beim Schwimmen hatte er erst keine Lust sich umzuziehen, aber als er herausfand, dass er und sein bester Freund Samuel dieselbe Schwimmwindel (mit Winnie the Pooh) hatten, gab es für die beiden kein Halten mehr. Nach einem kurzen Freudentanz ging es dann endlich in den Pool. Die kleinen werden zunächst mit Schwimmweste und Schwimmflügeln in den Pool gelassen. Mücki hat dann erstmal ein paar Runden mit der Betreuerin gedreht, um danach selbstständig herumzutreiben.

Since Mücki turned 3, he has been asking every day whether he's a big boy now. At nursery he's now allowed to go swimming on Tuesdays with the big kids, which he did for the first time this week. Once there, he didn't want to get undressed at first - until it turned out that he and his best mate Samuel had the same swimming nappy (with Winnie the Pooh). After a little poolside jig there was no holding them back. The little ones start off with armbands and buoyancy vests. Willem first took a few turns with the instructor and then spent the rest of the lesson paddling on his own. Awwwh, we can't believe our little boy is that big already!

3. Geburtstag — 3rd birthday

Neues Jahr, neue Geburtstagskrone - von Mama gebastelt. Unsere Mücke ist jetzt schon drei Jahre alt, unglaublich wie die Zeit vergeht.

Aufgeregt wurden die Geschenke ausgepackt und sofort ausprobiert. Was uns völlig umgehauen hat, ist die Tatsache, dass er weitaus besser mit seinem 100-Teile Puzzle klarkommt, als wir uns das in unseren kühnsten Träumen ausgemalt hatten. Vielen Dank auch an alle von Euch die Geschenke geschickt haben, es wurden alle ausnahmslos mit viel Freude angeschaut, gespielt, gelesen und gepuzzlet.

Another birthday, another crown, made by Mama, this year featuring Nemo and friends. Amazing how time passes, Willem is 3 years old already.

Prezzies were unwrapped and immediately tested with excitement. We knew that Willem is a bit of a jigsaw puzzle geek, but were flabbergasted that he managed to do the 100-piece pirate ship puzzle that we gave him. Thanks to you all for lovely presents, all of which have been gratefully received, played with, puzzled and read (over and over again).
